Michael Schumacher Race Suit First GP Race 1991
The year 1991 was Schumacher's first big year in Formula 1. Michael Schumacher, then 22 years old and reigning Formula 3 champion, was not actually scheduled to race in F1 that season. Nevertheless, he made it into the 7UP Jordan team for his first race, the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa.
Schumacher stayed in a hostel of sorts during the race weekend. Despite erroneous statements, Schumacher had never driven on this track before. So, without further ado, he rode around the track on his bike to get to know it a little better.
In qualifying, Schumacher was able to set the eighth fastest time in the Jordan Ford B191 with the famous 7Up livery and was thus able to start the race from 7th place. After he managed to fight his way up to 5th place in the actual race, on 25 August 1991, his clutch failed and Schumacher was unable to continue.
To mark the 30th anniversary of this historic event, a collection has now been designed based on the legendary "7UP" livery of the Jordan 191.
In collaboration with Stand 21 Racewear, a replica racing suit limited to 10 pieces was designed, based on Schumacher's original racing suit from the 7UP Jordan Team.
